LICENSE BY ENDORSEMENT

HOW TO OBTAIN A FLORIDA COSMETOLOGY LICENSE BY ENDORSEMENT

If you have a cosmetology license from certain states and territories, you may be eligible to obtain a Florida cosmetology license by endorsement. (However, if your license is from another country, then the process is different. Learn more about obtaining a Florida cosmetology license by examination here.)

Application requirements include the following:

OUT-OF-STATE LICENSES
An applicant must hold a valid license to practice cosmetology in another state.

AGE
Applicants for licensure by endorsement must be at least 16 years of age.

4-HOUR INITIAL HIV/AIDS COURSE
You must have completed the 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS within two years prior to submitting your application. Take your 4-Hour Initial HIV/AIDS Course now!

EDUCATION
All applicants must have completed at least 1,200 educational hours, comparable or more stringent than those required in Florida, and must have passed a written examination.

EXAMINATION
No additional exam is required if you qualify for licensure by endorsement.

FEE
You must pay the required fee as provided in the application. However, military veterans, their spouses, and Florida National Guard members may be eligible for a fee waiver, fee reimbursement, and/or fee discount.

APPLICATION
You must complete the required application: Form # DBPR COSMO 4-B.
